Antique Chests Of Drawers Wanut Burl Veneer Italy XVIII Century Originals
A pair of Lombard "bombè" chests of drawers from the third quarter of the 18th century, characterized by an elegantly curved structure both horizontally and vertically. These historic pieces feature three drawers on the front: the first is positioned in the curved recess beneath the top, while the other two, which are wider, are equipped with a concealed chain. The surface is embellished with walnut burl veneer, featuring herringbone-patterned walnut borders on the top and aprons, creating a refined interplay of visual contrasts. The meticulously carved moldings are made of walnut, while the interiors are constructed from pine and poplar, combining strength and lightness. The bronze handles were added at a later date. The wrought-iron locks, however, are original to the piece.
