Oil On Panel By François-edouard Bournichon, Basse-goulaine, Late 19th Century
This oil on panel depicts a scene in Basse-Goulaine; we believe it was painted by François Edouard Bournichon (1816–1896), but the painting is unsigned, so we cannot confirm this. The technique is excellent.
There is an inscription on the back of the frame reading “Bournichon Basse-Goulaine.”
It is set in a lovely gilded, copper-toned frame typical of the period.
The oil painting has not been cleaned or restored.
