Reliquary Of Saint Radegund, Queen Of The Franks

Reliquary of Saint Radegund

Queen of the Franks who became a nun at the Monastery of Sainte-Croix in Poitiers; she died in 587.

This precious reliquary is circular in shape, measuring 9 x 9 cm, and is both refined and deeply symbolic. In the center, a small glass window reveals the carefully preserved inner reliquary, while a frame of antique rhinestones underscores the solemnity of the piece.

The devotional-style setting is adorned with finely modeled gold leaves and cabochons in red, yellow, green, and blue, giving it an almost liturgical radiance.

On the reverse side, a red wax seal and red thread seals attest to the object’s sacred and authentic nature, recalling traditional practices for the preservation and certification of relics. With its delicate craftsmanship and meticulous presentation, this relic bears witness to an ancient piety, as well as to the enduring veneration of Saint Radegund, a major figure in Merovingian religious history.
