Lecoultre Atmos Clock. Swiss-made, 1968. Serviced.
Atmos LeCoultre perpetual clock.
This Atmos clock with a polished gold case (24-karat gold-plated) is a Model VIII, featuring the 528/1 caliber with fifteen jewels, ref. J-L 5902.
As is well known, its automatic winding is powered by the expansion of a metal capsule filled with ethyl chloride, in response to day-to-night temperature fluctuations. The ring-shaped pendulum is suspended from a metal wire and oscillates twice per minute (one tick-tock).
This model does not bear the Jaeger-LeCoultre mark but only “LeCoultre,” as it was produced in Switzerland for the american market. The american versions of the Model VIII also feature a simplified case finish: not satin-finished, but smooth and polished, like the Model V.
Round, recessed matte white dial, arabic numerals, dauphine hands. Serial No. 262.707. This example is in excellent condition, with no oxidation, chips in the crystals, or warping, and shows very few scratches.
The movement has been serviced by Atmos-Service. The bellow is in perfect condition.
