Tétard Frères: Pair Of Cut Crystal Ewers With Solid Silver Bases
Artist: Tétard Frères
A pair of ewers made of cut crystal with solid silver mounts, bearing the Minerve hallmark (950/1000) and the hallmark of the prestigious silversmith Tétard Frères at 4 rue Béranger in Paris. This firm was among the most sought-after of the 19th century and the Belle Époque, receiving commissions from royal and princely courts around the world, as well as from the upper middle class of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Our ewers feature a body made of blown and cut crystal with ribs and facets, embellished with foliage motifs. Their mountings are inspired by the Louis XVI and Rocaille styles, which were very much in vogue at the time, combining laurel, acanthus, and olive leaves with fluting, gadroons, and sweeping handles. Gross weight for the pair: 1,681 grams.
Good condition, with minor scratches from normal use on the silver mount.
Shipping cost for mainland France: €20. For other destinations, please contact us for an accurate shipping quote.
