Térésa Pératé (1864–1940) was a student of Emile Maillard (1846–1926)  Albert-Gabriel Rigolot (1862–1932), and Émile Cagniart (1851–1911).
The artist exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1893.
After her divorce and remarriage in 1894 to a military officer named Bézard, she adopted the compound name Térésa Bézard-Pératé to sign her works. 
Our painting is a perfect example of what a female painter can contribute to art history: a profound sensitivity and a sure talent. The artist—a modern woman if ever there was one, free and at peace—allows us to appreciate her serene nature through her light brushstrokes and the use of her soft color palette.
