Painted on a hollowed-out wooden panel (kovčeg) with a plaster ground and tempera paint, it features a gilded background and inscriptions in Cyrillic script: at the top, the traditional sacred abbreviations ΜΡ ΘΥ (Mother of God) and ΙϹ ΧϹ (Jesus Christ), while at the bottom there is a title in Church Slavonic.
