Juan Sala, or Jean Sala, or Joan Sala Gabriel, born in Barcelona on February 4, 1869, and died in Saint-Gaultier on May 21, 1918[1], was a Spanish painter.
BiographyJuan Sala studied at the Llotja School in Barcelona, then traveled to Italy before settling in Paris in 1890, where he continued his training in the studios of painters Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret and Gustave Courtois. He exhibited at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts from 1893 to 1914 and was awarded a bronze medal at the 1900 World’s Fair. An eclectic painter, his inspiration was wide-ranging: portraits of Parisian society, genre scenes, religious paintings, and landscapes.
