Inscription on the reverse: “EDWARD VI KING / OF ENGLAND born October 12 / 1537 † July 6, 1553 / This painting comes from / Wm. Smithsby Esq. Keeper / of Hampton Court († 1660) / by Barker to Nuttall / of Tittour, as an inheritance.” A wax seal is affixed to the stretcher (on the reverse). Dimensions: 52.1 x 42.7 cm.
