Studio Plaster Cast By Ch. Filleul Depicting A Couple In The Classical Style, 20th Century
This 20th-century studio plaster cast was created by Charles Filleul. It is likely a preparatory work for a statue commissioned by the government; traces of the modeling process are still visible.
Regarding its condition, note that the work has been broken and re-glued; we note cracks, missing sections, and signs of wear. However, the piece has a great deal of charm.
Charles Filleul (1853–1907), a French sculptor of busts and figures, was a student of Cavelier and A. Millet and a member of the Artistes Français; he received an honorable mention in 1887.
