Empire-style Inkwell In Chiseled And Gilded Bronze — Early 19th Century
A chiseled and gilded bronze inkwell, rectangular in shape. This beautiful rectangular piece is adorned with a frieze of water leaves in high relief and rests on glide feet decorated with scrollwork. On top is a tray for storing pencils, four holes for quills, two bronze cups for sand, and a blue crystal cup for ink in the center. Empire-style piece from the period; restored around 1830.
A beautiful piece, ideal for complementing an Empire-style decor on a desk.
Good condition, complete; the inkwell was added later but fits snugly in its place with no play.
