Athletic and well-built, he practiced swimming, boxing, auto racing, aviation, and hot-air ballooning, and participated in several international competitions^[4]. In 1927, he competed in the Gordon Bennett Cup in the United States and was a finalist in the art competition at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam^..Several of his works have been acquired by museums in Europe and the United States^[4]. His sculptures and medals are on display, among other places, at the Royal Museums of Art and History, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces, the Medal Cabinet in Brussels, the Diocesan Museum of Mechelen, the Riga Museum in Latvia, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York^.Artistically, he did not identify with any particular school, but in his small-scale private works, he adopted a classical style. Following his death during surgery in Brussels on August 16, 1948, he was laid to rest on August 19, 1948, at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels and was buried at the Evere Cemetery.Height: 37 cm with base.
