Small Louis XIII-style Kitchen Table, Carved Walnut With Crimson Marble, 17th Century

Small Louis XIII-style kitchen table in carved walnut, resting on four turned legs joined by a crossbar, with an incarnat red marble top*, dating from the 17th century.

This table is in good overall condition and is of exceptional quality. It is fully doweled. The marble is of very fine quality (substantial thickness).

Please note: a few minor imperfections and areas where wood is missing (particularly on the legs), old wormholes, a chip in one corner of the marble, scratches, and signs of age; please examine the photos carefully.

* Caunes-Minervois marble, also known as Languedoc marble, is a pale pink to blood-red marble veined with white. It has been quarried since ancient Roman times and continues to be mined today. The red marble, the “incarnat” of Caunes-Minervois, has become one of the best-known and most prestigious French marbles, thanks to the harmony of its pinkish-red color combined with the softness of its white flecks. It was widely used at Versailles.
