Devotional medallion consisting of a frame (featuring a ring at the top and decorated with alternating “C”s and flowers in black and white enamel, as well as an inner row of enamel bands in the same colors) and two sides. The front side, protected by a glass plate, features a hand-painted engraving depicting the Presentation of the Infant Jesus in the Temple. The reverse side features an openwork plaque with two figures (probably angels) framing a chalice from which a Holy Host emerges, along with a cross, all surrounded by plant motifs in white, black, and blue enamel. Experts note a series of plaques or medallions from religious brotherhoods (oval, rectangular, octagonal, or triangular) produced in Spanish workshops between approximately 1620 and 1640, primarily in Toledo, Salamanca, Córdoba, Seville, etc., but also overseas. Their iconography is generally strongly influenced by the teachings of the Council of Trent. ·
