Patinated Terracotta Busts Of Children, After André

A charming pair of terracotta busts depicting a young boy and a young girl in the style of 18th-century child figures. The girl’s bust features an expressive face turned slightly to the right, with her hair pulled back into elegant curls. She wears a fitted dress with a square neckline edged with pleats and adorned with a medallion on the front. The boy’s bust has his face turned to the left, with wavy hair tied at the nape of the neck in a cadogan style, featuring a ribbon bow at the back. He is dressed in a waistcoat and a coat with a pleated lace collar (jabot).​Each sculpture rests on its original molded pedestal made of variegated marble.​
​Incised on the back: “Le Brun” (or LeBrun).​A Louis XVI-style work, created in the 19th century after the style of André-Jean LEBRUN (1730–1811), sculptor to the King.
