Large ceramic bowl painted in bright colours and highlighted with metallic reflections with the bust of a lady in profile and a cartouche inscription. The bowl is signed A. Santarelli at the verso. Professor Alfredo Santararelli (1874-1957) became famous at Gualdo Tadino (Umbria, Italy) his hometown, for the quality of the works produced in the workshop and school which he founded. Pieces bearing his full signature were made by himself and they are sought after by collectors. This bowl dates to the early 20th Century, a period of significant revival of 16th Century lustreware in which he gained international fame for his rubis and gold metallic réflections.
