Large carved concrete dovecote / garden aviary – 20th century
An important decorative garden feature from the 20th century, made of cast and carved concrete to resemble a tree trunk. This monumental structure, which can serve as a dovecote, a communal birdhouse, or even a decorative shelter for squirrels, exudes a rustic charm inspired by the garden and rockery art of the last century.
The structure consists of a central shaft resembling a branchless tree supporting a large circular house with several nesting openings. The textures of the wood, bark, and branch cuts are finely rendered in the concrete. A small bird sculpture crowns the roof.
With its imposing dimensions and decorative character, this piece serves as a remarkable ornamental feature for a park, a large garden, a country estate, or a landscaping project.
