Silver-plated metal platter, circa 1890, with a stamped body featuring floral decoration in theArt Nouveau style, and openwork handles made of solid metal. The platter rests on four ball-shaped feet. The artist, CarlDEFFNER, whose mark is stamped on the underside of the platter, was influenced byEnglish Arts & Crafts design. He created numerous original metal pieces(particularly in copper) in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles in Esslingen, Germany.The platter is in good overall condition with only a few signs of wear onthe silver plating due to its age.
