Louis XVI-style Bed Made Of Gilded And Lacquered Wood.
Louis XVI-style bed, Napoleon III period (circa 1860–1880)
An elegant Louis XVI-style bed from the Napoleon III era, crafted from carved and molded wood, featuring a beautiful gray-blue patina accented with gilding.
The arched headboard is adorned with an upholstered panel framed by a frieze of gilded godrons, characteristic of the Louis XVI decorative style. The crossbars are adorned with regular fluting, while the side posts rest on tapered, fluted legs. The footboard is embellished with finely carved pine cones—an emblematic motif of the Louis XVI style—as well as carved rosettes at the corners.
The piece features simple and elegant lines, typical of the neoclassical revival that was highly popular during the Second Empire. It is meticulously crafted, with a solid structure and finely executed decoration.
