Auguste PELABON (1863–1932) was born in Toulon. A painter of landscapes, seascapes, portraits, and still lifes, he was a member of the Société des artistes français.
He studied under Bouguereau, Tony Robert-Fleury, and Letuaire, and lived at 10 rue de la Gaîté and at various addresses in Toulon: 4 rue Saint-Cyprien and 87 cours Lafayelle.From 1886 to 1891, he exhibited portraits and landscapes of the Var region around Toulon at the Salon des Artistes Français.
Oil on double-sided cardboard, 48.5 x 74 cm (still life on the reverse), in fair condition: cardboard slightly warped, small loss of paint, and localized chipping of the varnish.
