Antique Italian Painting, Joseph And Potiphar's Wife, From 17th Century
Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil on canvas, first canvas, artwork depicting the biblical subject of Joseph and Potiphar's Wife, with good pictorial quality. A large, horizontally arranged painting of striking proportions, it is adorned with a beautifully decorated, antique, non-contemporary, carved and lacquered frame (see photo). The subject of the painting is taken from the Old Testament, recounting the shameless and vain attempt of the wife of Potiphar, the head of Pharaoh's guards, to seduce the slave Joseph.
Over time, the painting has undergone several conservative restorations and color restorations with patches on the back (see photo). A tear in the lower left corner has recently been patched (see photo). This large, striking artwork is ideal for a large living room or study, and is ideal for antique dealers and interior decorators. The painting shows several signs of restoration, but is in fair condition. Requires restoration. Internal size H 103.5 x W 181.5 cm.
