Antique Victorian Ring With A Cabochon Amethyst And A North Star

A magnificent Victorian-era cocktail ring. Entirely crafted from 375 gold. The ring bears at least two hallmarks. One indicates the 375 gold content, while the other depicts an anchor.

Anchor-shaped hallmark: an original piece dating from the height of the Empire. Most likely made between 1860 and 1900. The anchor certifies the authenticity and the location of the assay, namely the Birmingham Assay Office, the quintessential “Jewelry Quarter”—that is, the center of jewelry manufacturing in Great Britain during the 19th century. The other hallmarks are worn away. The ring has a total weight of 5.28 grams.

The star-shaped emblem—the North Star or guiding star—located in the center, directly on the surface of the cabochon, signifies, among other things: “You are my guiding star in life; I will always follow you.” ”
