Double-sided Gingerbread Mold, 19th Century, Dutch Folk Art
A solid wood panel carved in relief on both sides, depicting a woman in traditional folk costume holding a bird on one side, and a man also in traditional folk costume on the other. Typical of 19th-century Dutch folk art, the corners are reinforced with metal plates to prevent the wood—which has a few cracks—from warping. These panels were used to bake gingerbread or other cookies
