A finely sculpted donkey made of Meissen porcelain by Erich Oehme, dated 1942, crafted in an elegant glazed white “Blanc de Chine” style (Weissporzellan). This remarkable antique figurine bears witness to Meissen’s great sculptural tradition in the 20th century, when the purity of form and the precise study of animals played a central role in the manufactory’s artistic direction.

Depicting a young donkey at rest, this figure possesses a particularly gentle and endearing character. Lying quietly with its legs tucked in and its head lowered, it conveys a sense of calm, balance, and natural charm. The clean lines and finely observed details of the ears, mane, and muzzle bring the sculpture to life, while the lustrous white glaze emphasizes its peaceful and decorative presence. Beyond its sculptural quality, this piece exudes a rare warmth and simplicity, giving it both genuine appeal for collectors and elegant decorative appeal.

The underside bears the blue crossed swords mark, the incised signature “Erich Oehme 1942,” and the model number R 215. Erich Oehme (1889–1970) ranks among Meissen’s most esteemed sculptors of the 20th century, particularly admired for his finely observed animal figures, created primarily between the 1930s and 1950s.

This is an authentic vintage Meissen piece, depicting a highly sought-after animal study by Oehme. This piece will appeal to both collectors of Meissen porcelain and lovers of refined decorative sculptures, full of grace and personality.
