19th-century Gilded Frame In The Dutch Style, 59 X 54 Cm / Frame Opening: 41.5 X 36.5 Cm
Carved and gilded wood.
Elegant French frame in carved, molded, and gilded wood, crafted in the style of Neo-Louis XIII pieces, which enjoyed great decorative success during the Second Empire.
The molding features a rhythmic pattern of wavy fluting, alternating with beaded moldings and fine engraved motifs, all enlivened by a rich succession of projections that lend depth and relief to the composition. The gilding, now weathered by time, retains a beautiful antique appearance and particularly highlights the sculpture’s three-dimensional forms.
With its balanced proportions and understated yet refined decoration, this frame is particularly well-suited for paintings from the Flemish, Dutch, or French schools of the 17th through 19th centuries, as well as for small-format genre scenes and landscapes.
A high-quality decorative frame that can just as easily accompany an antique artwork as it can be displayed as a decorative object in its own right.
