A side view of a French two-masted square-rigged brig, fully sailed, underway. A classic, refined, and elegant composition, characteristic of the ship portraits executed by Antoine Roux Sr.

The inscription at the bottom appears to identify the vessel as the Saint-Louis à Gorée and mentions a maiden voyage to Saint-Louis, Senegal.

Condition: pinholes, a few scratches, and sun damage.
