Original Terracotta Bust By Amélie Casini
Artist: Amélie Casini
A beautiful bust of a man in original terracotta, signed and dated "Amélie Casini Paris 1889." Amélie Casini (1849–1936) was based in Paris and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1883. Two of her works—a bronze and a terracotta—were displayed on Place Duguesclin in 1890 during a major art exhibition alongside works by Carolus Duran, Corot, Courbet, Harpignies, Millet, Sisley, Pissarro, and Monet.
She received an honorable mention at the 1889 World’s Fair, the same year this bust was dated (was it for this work?). In good condition; formerly painted.
