Here is a chaise longue known as the Récamier model; this chaise longue dates from the Empire period, from the very early 19th century. It features leaf-gilded sphinx motifs and claw feet.

It is chic and elegant with beautiful gilding. This is a piece of furniture described as “French chic”; this type of furniture has become virtually impossible to find.

The piece is in good overall condition; please note a small gap in the cane work (the cane work was redone at a later date). There are typical signs of wear and scuffing.
One of its advantages is that it has not been restored or altered; it is in its natural state.
