Pair Of Candlesticks, Gilded Bronze, Louis XIV Style, Late 17th/early 18th Century.

A superb and rare pair of Louis XIV candlesticks,
made of gilded bronze, they feature a rich “à la Bérain” decoration,
The circular, ogee-shaped base features a frieze of stylized shells set within geometric motifs,
An Amati-style background is surmounted by a frieze of lambrequins,
The shaft is decorated with crossed ribbons, serrated fluting, and acanthus foliage,
A rarity for candlesticks of this period is the presence of the original openwork, octagonal-shaped candle holders,
The presence of engraved marks identifying each candlestick with its corresponding candlestick holder confirms this: “TT” for one, and “T” for the other,
In good condition for its age; however, the following should be noted:
- Wear and patina from age,
- restoration under one of the bases,
- a nut has been added to secure the shaft (no fragility),
The candlesticks are divided into three parts, which is quite rare for this period,
French work from the late 17th/early 18th century,
