This oil-on-wood painting depicts a child—and possibly her mother—serving her soup in a rustic Breton peasant home bathed in soft light streaming through a side window. The painting is signed in the lower left corner and set in a period gilded frame.

French painter born in Montmartre in 1850 and died in Conches-en-Ouche in 1909. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1884 and 1908 and received several awards, including a third-class medal in 1892. His body of work consists mainly of genre scenes, interiors, peasant figures, still lifes, and pastels.
