Aubusson Tapestry – Chinoiserie Design – 19th Century
A rare and charming 19th-century Aubusson tapestry, woven in the Chinoiserie style that defined European decorative arts in the 18th and 19th centuries.
It features a refined composition brought to life by five Chinese figures moving through an exotic garden. A dignitary sits beneath an elegant pavilion, while other figures stroll or converse amid lush vegetation dotted with palm trees, flowering shrubs, and delicate birds. The entire scene is framed by a generous red border adorned with rich garlands of flowers, fruits, and decorative medallions.
The remarkably fresh colors—a blend of deep red, warm brown, celadon blue, pink, and soft green—give this tapestry an exceptional decorative presence.
A reinforcement strip has been carefully sewn onto the back to allow for easy and secure hanging.
A charming decorative piece, ideal for adorning a wall, a living room, a library, or a home with character.
