Friedrich Goldscheider (1845–1897).
The Young Napoleon II, Duke of Reichstadt, son of Napoleon I, depicted in his youth wearing a military uniform.
The eagle with outstretched wings, carved in gilded relief at the base of the bust, is a direct reference to his historical nickname and to the symbols of the Napoleonic Empire.
This model was created by the French sculptor Louis Oury (1867–1940). The bust is signed on the shoulder.
Bibliography: In 1892, Friedrich Goldscheider founded a subsidiary of his Viennese manufactory in Paris. It bore the name Frédéric Goldscheider and was managed by his son Arthur Golscheider beginning in 1900.It had a warehouse at 25 Rue du Paradis and a retail store at 28 Avenue de l’Opéra. Rue du Paradis was also home to the bronze foundry and the marble workshop.
On the back of the sculpture is the Goldscheider stamp (see photos) and an engraved number.
This is a very beautiful Historicist Art Nouveau piece, a very rare model from the Goldscheider workshop.
The piece is spectacular; dimensions: Height approx. 68 cm, Width approx. 42 cm, and Depth approx. 35 cm.
The sculpture is in very good condition, with no restorations.....
