A sketch from the early 19th century depicting cumulus clouds over a vast landscape. Oil on canvas. Excellent quality and condition. This early English landscape study depicts a vast sky with gray clouds passing over a distant town. The view is typical of Constable’s work. On the reverse is a wax seal bearing a coat of arms similar to that of the Constable family. The work requires further research for a more formal authentication. Presented in an antique gilded frame.
