Emmanuel Marcel-Laurent (1892–1948), a painter and watercolorist specializing in landscapes and seascapes, was particularly drawn to the Breton coastline. He was a member of the “Concarneau Group” before being appointed official painter to the Navy in 1942. His works are on display at the Musée de la Marine in Paris as well as in Brest.
