Pair Of Charentaise Earthenware Plates
Interesting earthenware “dome-shaped” plates, one depicting a peacock (diameter 20.8 cm) and the other a hoopoe (diameter 20.4 cm).
Acquired near Jonzac (Charente-Maritime); we assume they may have originated from the earthenware factories in Saintes or Cognac (?).
In good overall condition except for a small chip on the outer rim of the hoopoe plate (see photo).
19th-century. Sold as a set for €90, or separately for €45 each.
