Rare Baccarat Crystal Vase With Japanese-style Koi Carp Design, From The 1878 Paris World's Fair, Museum Collection

VERY RARE clear crystal vase, cut and engraved.
Japanese-style design featuring koi carp and foliage.
Signed on the base with the Baccarat stamp.
This vase is very similar to the one exhibited at the 1878 Paris World’s Fair.
An identical piece is part of the Baccarat Museum’s heritage collection and was exhibited at the Petit Palais in Paris in 2014–2015 as part of the retrospective marking Baccarat’s 250th anniversary: “Baccarat—The Legend of Crystal.”
It also appears in the book of the same name, accompanied by a preparatory sketch.
At the 1878 Paris World’s Fair, the carp motifs inspired by Okusai were a great success.
