A superb inkwell from the Napoleon III period, crafted using the so-called “Boulle marquetry” technique, combining brass and tortoiseshell on a dark background.
Richly adorned with finely chiseled gilded bronze: scrollwork featuring mascarons, claw feet, an openwork gallery, and highly elegant rocaille motifs.
The interior,divided into compartments, houses an antique penholder with a metal nib, adding to the charm and authenticity of the piece.
