Chinese Drum-shaped Stool Made Of Precious Wood – 19th Century
An elegant Chinese drum-shaped stool made of exotic wood, likely huanghuali or a similar species, dating from the 19th century. Its harmonious design, with simple and balanced lines, is characteristic of scholar’s furniture from the late Qing Dynasty.
The band is adorned with a delicate carved motif of bats, symbols of happiness, prosperity, and longevity in Chinese tradition. The openwork structure rests on wide, curved legs connected by a circular crossbar, giving the piece a sense of visual lightness while ensuring excellent stability.
The circular top is inlaid with a slab of veined gray marble, providing an elegant contrast to the warm patina of the wood. This piece can be used as a stool, a small seat, or a side table.
A beautiful piece of antique Chinese furniture, sought after for the quality of its wood, the finesse of its carving, and its decorative character.
