18th-century Tabernacle Door
Tabernacle door in oak, finely carved in high relief, adorned with a Eucharistic composition depicting a chalice surmounted by the consecrated host, sheltered beneath a canopy with lambrequins and draped curtains, The scene is framed by rich drapery falling on either side
The piece retains traces of its original polychromy as well as a beautiful period patina. The original lock opening and the natural shrinkage cracks in the wood attest to its age. This door originates from the Charente region.
