Roger Capron (1922–2006), a student at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris.
In 1946, he moved to Vallauris, where he founded the “Callis” ceramics studio, putting into practice the motto of his mentor, René Gabriel: “to create beauty accessible to all.”
In 1952, he founded “Atelier Capron,” a small factory that employed about fifty workers at the time.
He won several awards, including the gold medal at the 10th Milan Triennale in 1954, and left behind a considerable body of work recognized worldwide.
