Oil painting on panel depicting St. Francis blessing the city of Assisi as he, now on his deathbed, was carried by his fellow friars toward the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

The composition is based on a famous work by the French painter Léon Benouville (1821–1859), a well-known exponent of academic painting with historical and religious subjects.

The work is therefore a copy after Benouville, executed with skill, which faithfully reproduces the scene: the Saint, lying on a stretcher and surrounded by friars in prayer, bestows his final blessing upon the city of Assisi, visible in the background against a vast and luminous landscape.

The episode represents one of the most moving moments in the Franciscan tradition, characterized by intense spirituality and profound contemplation.

The panel is set in an elegant gilded wooden frame, which enhances its presence.
