Victorian Mahogany Brass Inlaid Writing Slope With Secret Drawers
A beautifully decorative late Victorian mahogany writing slope with finely engraved brass inlay throughout, dating from around 1880.
The richly figured mahogany is enhanced by elegant scrolling brass decoration, creating a striking appearance that works equally well as a functional writing box or as a decorative object.
Opening the slope reveals the original green leather writing surface with gilt-tooled borders, fitted compartments for stationery, a removable pen tray, original glass inkwell and concealed drawers accessed via the traditional secret release mechanism.
A charming and characterful Victorian desk accessory that would look equally at home in a traditional study, library or contemporary interior.
