22k Gold Neo-etruscan Brooch With A Silver Corinthian Drachma, 19th Century
Etruscan revival greek Drachma brooch in 22 karats gold. Lozenge-shaped brooch with geometric lines, centered with an ancient Greek coin in a circular double bezel setting. The coin is a silver drachma of Corinth (375–345 BC), depicting a left-facing profile of Aphrodite with a flying Pegasus on the reverse. The mount is decorated at each corner with a raised gold bead. Neo-Etruscan style brooch reminiscent of the work of Castellani, Carlo Giuliano, or Pierre and Eugène Fontenay. Antique brooch, late 19th century.
