François Louis LANFANT DE METZ (1814–1892)"THE MAGIC LANTERN"

The first depicts seven children looking into a gigantic magic lantern bearing the sign: “Come see LAZASE and LAURENE—to all those with good hearts,” with the operator on the left pulling the strings.
Above the four optical boxes, the following can be read: CHAMPIGNI (sic) – GRAVELOTE – RECHOFENE (sic) – FORBAC.
The second depicts a man and a dog emerging from an almost identical peep box with a menacing air, causing the laughing, mocking children to flee.
In two wooden frames with gilded stucco decorated with canals, acanthus spandrels, and frieze motifs.
