Bronze By Alfred Dubucand
Bronze sculpture depicting a hunting dog, signed by Dubucand (1828–1903)
Alfred Dubucand (born Bucand), a student of Antoine-Louis Barye, won an award at the 1867 Salon. As an animal sculptor, he most often modeled groups of animals—deer, dogs, and horses—but also excelled in Orientalist sculpture. Renowned for his attention to detail, his ability to capture movement in mid-action, and the finesse and elegance of his chiseling, he was on par with the animal sculptors of his time.
