Émile Flamant attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Valenciennes and then studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Lucien Jonas’s studio, where he met Henri Matisse, who would have a considerable influence on his art. Beginning in 1920, he devoted himself to fresco painting. He created numerous decorative works in churches and public monuments. At the same time, he continued to paint a large number of easel paintings. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1922. His works are rare on the market.
