Antique 3-Piece Leg of Lamb Carving Set, Silver-Plated with Minerva Design, Original Case, Comptoir Général de Paris, Late 19th Century
A superb and authentic leg of lamb carving set (or roast set) from the late 19th / early 20th century (Napoleon III / Belle Époque period).
This complete, high-end set includes:
A large carving knife with its original steel blade
A large 3-pronged roast fork.
A leg-of-lamb holder with its clover-shaped locking key
Silver-plated, featuring French Minerve hallmarks on the ferrules
Sold in its original burgundy red velvet and silk case. The inside of the lid features a magnificent stamp gilded with fine gold depicting the two griffins of the prestigious Parisian house: “Comptoir Général, 9 Bd Poissonnière, Paris.” The knife’s blade is also stamped with the mark of this luxury brand.
The set is in very good condition for its age. The Minerve silver handles are impeccable. The steel blade exhibits a patina and oxidation typical of antique steel, which attests to its authenticity.
The case is well-preserved, and the clasp is functional.
