These rare and exceptional American ceremonial pillowcases are quilted in the style of Provençal boutis.
The embroidery is created using tiny hand-stitched points, accented by fine strands of cotton or wadding that give the piece a beautiful three-dimensional effect.

An imposing and magnificent vase of flowers occupies the central space, while at the bottom, two separate motifs bear the initials MJ and the date 1864.
