Impressive mantelpiece set in gilded bronze, cut crystal, and cloisonné enamel
Manufactured by Ansonia Clock Co., New York, United States – late 19th century

Elegant mantelpiece set consisting of a portico clock and a pair of matching vases. The set is crafted from finely chiseled gilded bronze, embellished with polychrome cloisonné enamel panels featuring foliage and floral motifs in shades of blue, turquoise, white, and gold.

The clock features a simple and refined design, resting on four fluted columns. Its enameled dial, featuring black Arabic numerals, bears the inscription “Manufactured by Ansonia Clock Co., New York, United States of America”, a prestigious American clock manufacturer founded in the 19th century and renowned for the quality of its clocks and pendulum clocks. The exposed mechanism reveals the pendulum, lending the piece both technical and decorative charm.

The two cut-glass baluster vases, decorated with diamond-point and fluted patterns, rest on gilded bronze bases adorned with the same cloisonné enamel plaques, creating a harmonious and particularly elegant ensemble.

This set, representative of the eclectic taste of the late 19th century, is of fine craftsmanship, combining the brilliance of cut crystal with the decorative richness of gilded bronze and cloisonné enamel.
