An Ivory Okimono Of Kintarō With A Phoenix, Signed Kazutoshi

An ivory okimono carved from a single block, depicting Kintarō, the famous child hero of Japanese folklore, holding a fan in his right hand and gazing toward a phoenix emerging from a composition of clouds.

At his feet are a fox and a monkey, both rendered with curious expressions.

The ivory is finely carved, with particular attention given to the robes and expressive facial features, as well as to the decorative elements, including the phoenix and the intricate cloud motifs.

Incised signature Kazutoshi beneath the base.
